Guest guest
axara means that which cannot be destroyed. SHE as brahman is indestructible. Hence, SHE is axara rupiNii. Or the word axara can mean alphabets. As the letters start from "a" and end in "xa", they are known as axara-s. SHE is mAtR^ikA according to the saying "akaaraadi xakaaranta maatR^ika iti abhidhiiyate". The letters from a to xa are known as maatR^ikaa; Hence, this name is synonymous to maatR^ika-varNa-rupiNi of sahasranaama. Or axara means Lord shiva who is indestructible and SHE is one with HIM as ardhanaariishvara. sahasranaama beautifully describes this "maheshvara mahaakalpa mahaataaNdava saaxiNii" and "mahaa praLaya saaxiNii". As Lord shiva destroys this creation at the end of the cycle, SHE as brahman remains as a witness to it. And nothing else remains. Hence, SHE is axararuupiNii Also, shankara's commentary to names "ekaaxarii" and "ekaanekaaxaraakR^itiH" in trishati brings outs different meanings of axara. Please refer to that.
