Namaste,

Kapali Shastry was a leading disciple of Sri Aurobindo, and a great

sanskrit scholar; his web-site now is at:

http://www.hindunet.org/vedas/rigveda/ss/rigveda/

Vasistha Ganapati Muni was one of Maharshi's closest associates, and he

always considered him as Skanda avatara. Ganapati Muni could compose

sanskrit poems at lightning speed, and often translated Maharshi's dialogues

into such poetry.

Regards,

s.

It may be of interest to you. Should be available easily in India.

BTW I got the book with translation through ILL. This selection has 100+

verses of the 1000 verses and has a detailed translation for these.

Author of this translation mentions that there is a commentary on this

work by one Kapali Shastri. It is called "prabha" and I do not know the

language of the commentary. Giri may be aware of that.

Interestingly in one of the verses in the selection, the poet identifies

bhagavaan ramaNa mahaR^ishhi with Lord skanda.

Ravi,

Incidentally it was Ganapathy Muni who gave Maharishi the name

'bhagavan Ramana Maharishi'- He said that the verse 'Shuklaambaradaram'

fits Maharishi too...

..... and Ravi, Vashista Ganapathy Muni's Great grand daughter STUDIED IN UT

AUSTIN and used to come to the local Sai center there!!!!!

( she's right now in san antonio, i think).

Kapali Shastry has also published ( its in the PCL) books on the vedas

and also his experiences of daily sadhana.. they are fascinating to read .

Also interestingly, when Ganapathy Muni finished writing the 1000 verses on

Devi, Sri Ramana asked Him something to the effect of 'Have you written down

what you heard?' implying that the verses were put in Ganapathy Muni's mind

(he was in an exalted state) by either Bhagavan or by The Divine Mother

Herself.

Bala,

Giri wrote about this in detail and your can read that from archives.

/message//14?&start=13

According to the book I have, shrii gaNapati muni vowed to complete

the text in 20 days. And on the last day still few hundred verses were

remaining (giri's account gives 300) and muniji went to ramaNa for

help. bhagavan went to samadhi and muniji could compose the remaining

verses effortlessly. After that bhagavan came out samaadhi and asked

him whether whatever he told was taken down. And muniji gratefully

acknowledged bhagavan's help.

Giri's post describes this in great detail. You are also correct

because Giri mentions in his post that the entire text is pashyanti

vaak, that is dictated by divine mother HERSELF.
