These garlands are made of flowers, silk, gold and silver. shrii suuktam praises ambaaL as suvarNa-rajata-srajaam. That is she is wreathed in gold and silver.* AUM sragvinyai namaH -- Ravi shriikaNTaacharya (shiva-vishishhTaadvaita) identifies the deity of shrii suuktam with umaa and interprets in that fashion. A translation of first verse of shrii suuktam was posted some time back along the same lines.
