i heard that in the naama durga, each sound has a different meaning.

durga = d.h ,u ,r.h ,g.h ,a

the meanings given are as follows

" The word DURGA consists of five parts D+U+R+G+A.

- The sound 'D' stands for DAITYA - ASURA or demon tendencies like anger, ego

attachment, greed etc, destruction of these DAITYA VRITIes.

- The sound 'U' stands for VIGHANA NASHAKA - destroyer of obstacles

- The sound 'R' stands for ROGA NASHAKA - destroyer of diseases

- The sound 'G' stands for PAAPA NASHAKA - destroyer of sins

- The sound 'A' stands for BHAYA NASHAKA - destroyer of fears

Thus, DURGA sound is destroyer of all malefics. "

i found the above explanation in the below site which has a small but

informative article on saptashati
