98. nR^ipavashyakarii

nR^ipaH means king. In this context it can be interpreted as

jiiva, as jiiva is the (apparent) ruler of the body. SHE has the

jiiva under HER control. This does not mean that the jiiva does

not have freedom of action (puruShaakara), but it is limited. SHE

controls the jiiva based on the puurva karma.

 

During HER avatara as paaNDya raajakumaari (daughter of

maladhvaja paaNdhyan) SHE defeated many kings and brought them

under HER control. HER conquest stopped only at the gates of

kailasha when SHE met HER Lord (shiva). More details of this can

be found in thiruviLaiyaaDal puraaNam.
