In my readings of last night, I came across this explanation how the

name lalitA has come about. Members may be interested.

 

1. lakshya tvAt sarva vidyAnAM

2. linga hInatayA sthite

3. tAraka tvAt bhavAmbodhe

4. laliteti prakIrtyate

 

1. That which is the aim of all vidyAs

2. The One that exists without any gender difference

3. the One that allows us to cross this saMsAra sAgara

4. If we put the first letters together of the above verse, we get

shrI lalitA
