meaning needed

hello everybody,

Can anyone tell me the meaning for all the songs in

Abhirami Andadi ie., the 100 songs + 2(ganesha

vandanam and last song), or any link where i can find

them.

I will be really great if i get the meaning

AFAIK only the text is available online. And not the meanings. I

have posted 7+ verses with meaning on in a random

order. Also I am not aware of any english translations available

on print.

 

I have two Tamil commentaries. One by a great tamil scholar, ki.

vA. jagannAthan and it is a very good one. The other one is a

very brief but simple to read meanings by Poet Kannadasan. The

greatness of kaNNadAsan is his ability render everything in a

simple language. Former (by Ki. vA. Ja) may pose some difficulty

if you have not studied Tamil formally, but this commentary has a

great depth.

 

 

There are two audio versions of the cassette. One by sIrgAzhi

gOvindarAjan. It is a brilliant rendering and of very high

quality. It is a must have.

 

Other one I have heard is by sUlamangalam sisters and it is

mediocre and very bad. I was so frustrated with their rendering,

I threw away the cassette, just preserving the cover for the

picture of abhirAmi.

 

I do plan to post the meaning of some verses (in a random

order) whenever time permits.
