Guest guest
shriiH namaste, Generally somavaara vratam is done to obtain the grace of lord shiva. The Devi gita says that both somavaara vratam and pradosha vratam also are devi vratams. this is clear by seeing the following shlokam in Devi gita Devi tells himavaan "somavaaravrataM caiva mamaatipriitikR^innaga tatraapi deviiM saMpuujya raatrau bhojanamaacaret.h" Devi is saying that she likes the somavaara vratam very much. The vratam is performed by fasting on mondays followed by a Devi puuja that night and taking some food after this puuja. regards satish. The same sentiment is expressed by abhirAmi bhaTTa in one of the verses as "chollum poruLum ena" which literally means word (chollum) and its meaning (poruLum ena). Many of the verses in shivAnandalaharI adore ambaaL along with Lord shiva. Probably it is not possible to worship shiva without worshipping ambaaL. The pedestal of shivalingam represents ambaaL. I was told that even in the daxiNamurti symbolism there is an aspect of ambaaL. There is verse in tirumantiram which I dont remember now, says where there is Lord, ambaaL is also there.
