naala has a implied meaning here. This word has many meanings like

dayai kURavENDum thaayE.

 

 

English Translation:

--------------------

 

O daughter of maladhvaja paaNDya! How can I ever tell you something

which you do not know? You are omniscient and you know everything

including my wants. Yet, unless I speak out my problems openly to you,

I will not get the inner peace and the wounds of my heart will not

heal. For this reason, I am telling them to you again, hence, I pray to

you to listen patiently to my complaints. O mother be pleased with me.

 

 

Notes:

------

 

In the first verse the poet expressed his joy for getting an inner

communion with Mother. Now, he gives an apologetic prelude to the

subsequent verses. For he is going to complain, protest, and lament his

problems in them (till he takes sharaNaagati, then the work becomes a

brilliant outpouring of ambaaL's beauty). A nice answer to why we

should pray and tell our problems to ambaaL is given here. SHE knows

all our needs and wants. SHE knows what we deserve and what we desire.

We are telling our problems to HER not because SHE does not know them,

but because it gives inner satisfaction. When we report our problem to

an elder or a senior officer, the burden (at least mentally) is lifted

off our shoulders. Thus when we rest on HER and tell our problems out,

a great burden is lifted from the mind.
