43. AUM kUrma pR^iShTa jayiShNu prapadAnvitAyai namaH

 

Salutations to HER who possess a feet whose arch excels the smoothness

and curve of the shell on the back of a tortoise.

 

 

bhAskararAya: kUrma pR^iShTa jayata iti jayiShNuNini prapade pAdagra

taabhyA.m anivtA ... *

 

 

kuurmaH tortoise

 

pR^iShTa behind or back (refers to the curvature of the shell)

 

jayiShNu victorious

 

prapada here it indicates the arch of the feet (dictionaries give tip

of the toes as the meaning)

 

anvita one who is endowed with

It should read:

 

kUrmayoH pR^iShTe jayata iti jayiShNuNini prapade pAdAgre taabhyA.m

anvitA
