Thus this names signifies the union of shiva and shakti. Hence, it is identical in its meaning to shivashaktyaikarUpiNii. kula refers to refers to plurality or manifested universe. She is the deity of it as saguNa brahman. akula is unmanifested or nirguNa brahman. SHE is indeed both and that bridges the two. Later the sahasranAma calls HER akulA also. In this name shiva is referred to akula because it celebrates HIM in his nirguNa bhAvam and in that state being non-dual he has no relationship whatsoever. ambaaL is kula because as saguNa brahman and Lord of this Universe, SHE is related to all. The distinction saguNa and nirguNa is only from the point of view those in avidya or ignorance. Since SHE transcends that SHE is called kaulinii The name kaulinii has many other meanings. Most of the derive from kula and base their definition from there. Please refer to translation of bhAskararAya's bhAshya.m of the sahasranAma. (note this is my interpretation of the bhAshya of bhAskararAya which is quoted above in sanskrit, I chose the part which appealed to me the most) Ravi
Guest guest
Thank you Mr Ravisankar. The analysis given in your message is different and interesting. You are right that the other meanings of the name are based on the word kula >> kuliina >> kouliina(masc) >> koulinii(fem). I could not relish this since this interpretation attributes the character of kula to the ambaal who is beyond any kula. Another meaning I read about was that koulini means the presiding diety of the sriichakra - in this case I did not find the reasoned explanation as to how koulini is connected to sriichakra >>>>>>> shall be grateful if you can throw some light on this. Once again thank you for giving me the analysis from a different perspective.
