I would like to hear what the learned members of the group have to

say regarding this.. i believe this requires a guru for initiation

and is best not trifled with.. as a non-initiate, i would recommend

the book

Brooks, Douglas Renfrew. 1992. Auspicious Wisdom.

Edited by P. E. M. -Ortega, SUNY Series in Tantric Studies.

Albany, NY: SUNY Press,301 pages.

I think i was maybe imprudent in reading the book, since elders

at home disapproved of my reading it (but i was curious :-)

Regards,

Sridhar.

hariom,

Many people are curious to learn anything or atleast know what the subject

matter is of anything termed as a "secret" or rahasya.

In there zeal people forget that Mantrashastra, everything apart also deals in

subtle vibrations which affect the CNS and physical structure of the body.

This factor necessiates the mandatory existence of a guru. The bhavanopanishat

begins with - GURU SARVAKAARANA BHOOTA SHAKTHIHI.. Guru isthe sole reason etc...

Hence anyvidya, more so such vidyas have to be passed and understood by an

experienced guru, who is noneother than Parameshwari herself. It cannot be the

subject matter of so called research scholars of Indological studies, especially

of western origin (due respects to a few great ones like arthur avalon) who

study it as a subject of Anthropological interest than a sadhana for moksha or

as a brahma vidya. My primary point is they are devoid of shraddha and bhakthi

which makes a mantra into a few sylaabi.

Understanding of mantashastra comes from sadhana, guru upadesha and parameshwara

sankalpa.

The reason i am telling this thing, is to make known to people a person i know

in bangalore, who went out with srividya and kundalini

through books and is today in the prestigious centre for Neurological studies

and mental health known as NIMHANS.

Remember what Vivekananda said... "dont play with the serpent" and all that.

In tantras like kularnava u have statements like..

Gopitavyam mahavidya swayoniriva parvathi

rajyam deyam shiro deyam na deyaa shodashakshari.

Which emphasizes the secret nature of the vidya.

Although today you have people shouting it through loudspeakers, its only when

one is initiated through a right person that Srividya can even be approached in

the right perspective.

I may be wrong and have written my mind here, so hope that all those well read

individulas correct me .
