This name occurs in both trishati and sahasranAma bhAskararAya writes in saubhAgyabhAskara: vasana AbharaNa kusuma kAnti yukta.m sarava.m eva aruNa.m yasyAH shankara in his trishati bhAshya writes: sarveShvaN^geShvaruNA AraktavatI, "asau yastAmro.aruNaH" iti shruteH || The commentary I have on sahasranAma (Ammachi publications) adds that SHE is red in all levels. At a gross level, her clothes, ornamentsm face etc shine in red color. At the level of activity, SHE assumes rajas in creating the jagat, which is associated with redness. Often shiva is associated with prakAsha and ambaaL with vimarsha, and vimarsha is red. As we see, in all the three, shankara is quite unique in establishing a vedic link. HIS presentation of trishatI is entirely vedantic and relies on shruti.
