Thanks for posting AchArya-s golden words. As always HE has the excellent

ability of making complex things easily understantable. I humbly request you

to post more often from Vol 6 of deyvaththin kural. Your translation is very

good.

 

Whatever HE says is very true. At one point of time, I got few vigrahams.

Most of them of were more than thumb size. When you have something greater

than thumb size, lot of care is required. In addition, I got a shalagrama

also (which was bought from a nepalese person). Traditionally you should get

these things from your family worship or from your guru. These things should

not be bought. Fortunately, I had the sanity to go to kAnchi maTha and give

all the vigrahams to shrI shankara vijayendra svAmigaL. I requested him to

bless and give me back the shalagrama to worship. He blessed it and answered

some of the doubts about the worship.

 

But we do have a framed shrIchakram (copper plate but framed like a picture),

but my wife worships it like a picture/photograph. Personally, I wanted to

give that also back. But she said it is a practice in their family. In any

case, we do not do anything like AvAhanam, and prANa pratiShTa, etc., all we

do is decorate it with a flower and pray in front of it.

 

 

Personally, I think kAnchi mahAsvAmigaL is not different from Lord shiva.

This conviction came to me on Feb 14th 2001. I was praying to Lord shiva for

initiation to a mantra using the verse "tvat pAdambujam archayami" verse of

shivAnandalaharI for quite some time. I used to pray, if you think I am

worthless in real life, at least come in my svapna and initiate me. To my

amazement, kAnchi paramacharya came in my dream on 14th morning and initiated

me to the mantra I was seeking. It was not a vague dream, but a one that was

vivid and clear. The picture of shiva-shankara to which I pray is here:

long back i read in book called mantraanuShTaana candrika that mantras which

were given in dreams like above can be followed like the one which were

initiated normally.

 

but i am not sure if that book is standard and authentic.

(the only reason for my doubt 1)book not from a standard publisher

2)i never heard of that title any where else with any other publisher.)

 

but many other topics discussed in the book seem to confirm with other standard

books.

 

may be learned members of our list can elaborate further on this topic.

How blessed you are to have the initiation from Maha Swami who I consider to be

Dakshinamurthy Swaroopam. It does not matter whether

initiation in dreams are just as valid as the ones done in person., the fact

that this Karuna moorthy chose to do the initiaition in your dream is

a pure blessing. We are fortunate as well to hear this and have your continued

active involvement in this group.
