Guest guest
Dear brothers and sisters and devotees of Shri Maata-ji: I am a new member who has been closely reading and following the various emails exchanged between like-minded devotees of Ambaal! Like quite a few of my brothers/sisters, I am very ignorant about this subject. I am really finding this connection very useful and believe that our family deity, Shri Maata Bhuvaneswari of Pudukottai has blessed me in becoming a member of this group. Although our native is Pudukottai, I was born in Mumbai, completed my education in Kolkata, worked for a couple of years in Chennai and I am presently in Dubai (since 1993). I have visited our family deity’s temple in Pudukottai a couple of times during my visits to India while on vacation. I would like to know the significance and importance of this temple from any one of the devotees as I hardly have any knowledge about this. I am sure, Maata Bhuvaneswari would bless me with the answer through one of my brothers/sisters. “Om Shrim Hrim Shrim Bhuvaneswaryai Namah”. This is the slokam that I chant everyday. Could you also enlighten me on the exact meaning of this slokam? Thanks. Jai Mata Di G.V. Rajan PO Box # 1082 Dubai, U.A.E. Guest guest
Dear Mr. Krishnamoorthy: Thanks a lot for enlightening me on the Pudukottai temple of Shri Maata Bhuvaneswari. There is just one thing about the slokam that I have mentioned. Could you possibly give me the exact meaning of this slokam? Although I chant this slokam as many time as possible during the day, but it would be more fruitful for me to know the meaning and then do the prayer. Hope to receive your help in this regard. May Maata Bhuvaneswari bless you and one and all who are devotees of this site. Guest guest
Rajan wrote: > “Om Shrim Hrim Shrim Bhuvaneswaryai Namah”. > Dear Rajan: This is a mantra and not a shloka. Are you sure that the bIjAxara shrIm repeats? namaH means prostrations or salutations to. bhuvaneshvarI means iishvarI of the universe. iishvara means controller or Lord. She is the Lord or controller of the universe. The word bhuvanam comes from bhuH. There are different planes of existence like bhuH, bhuvaH, suvaH, mahaH, janaH, tapaH and satyam. These are called the seven lokas. These loka-s have subtle interpretation as well. Corresponding to these, there are seven negative loka-s called pAdALa-s. Together they are often referred as 14 loka-s. When we say bhuvanam, I would understand it as the all the loka-s and not just bhuH. SHE is the Lord of all the loka-s. AUM has many different meanings and interpretations. Yoga sUtra says, it is the Unique symbol of Ishvara. I think mANDukya upanishad interprets it very well. hrIm has many interpretations also. Refer to the achives which has the commentary on trsihati. trishati has 60 names starting with hrIm. And shankara gives a nice interpretation of this bIjAxara. shrIm, I think is explained as a part of verse 33 of saundaryalaharI. Others members can add more to it. Meanings of these bijAxaras will become apparent as you meditate on it. For this dIxa/initiation from a guru is required. Sincerely, Ravi
