Guest guest
TThe Bhramanda purana says that Kasi and Kanchi are two eyes of siva .There is a sloka elsewere mentioning seven mokshapuris in Bharata khanda: they are 1. Ayodhya 2. Kasi 3. Maya or Haridwar 4. Mathura(they are in Uttar pradesh) 5.Avanthi(Ujjain in Madhya pradesh) 6. Dwaraka(in Gujarat) 7.Kanchi ( in Tamil nadu) The only one in south India is Kanchi. This is what Kanchi maha swami reffered. The sloka doesnot say you have to die there. Another sloka says : to be born in Kamalalaya (Thiruvaroor), To live in kanchi , to die in Kasi and to remember Arunachala(Thiruvannamalai) one gets mukthi. I think that because Thiruvaroor is the muladhara Kshetra one gets a boost in awakening the kundalini by virtue os being born there. The periya puranam(of 63 saiva saints) also mentions in one of the stories that all people of thiruvarur were witnessed as siva ganas by one of the saint when he wanted to take bath returning home from thiruvarur temple. Kanchi by virtue of the Bila aakhasa in kamaksi temple whose rays are said to manifest to the boundaries of kanchi confers a awakening of kundalini. Kasi being the Agna cakra releases the soul when he dies there, arunachala being fire reduces to ashes both the virtue and the demerits of the person remembering and confers mukthi.
