control of mind

dear members, namaskaram . since long a q. has been in my mind about the

developing control the mind . at certain times we feel weak and helpless in

taking correct steps in a given situation . does sri mata help in such a

case? can mantra,puja,etc.help in giving guidance ,help,willpower,etc. can

faith in the MOTHER keep us away from doing wrong and how? pl. i would be

grateful if these qs can be answered.thanking all,love

Namaskaaram,

 

Arjuna asks the same question to Krishna in Gita - 6:34

 

cha~nchala.n hi manaH kR^ishhNa pramaathi balavaddR^iDham.h .

tasyaaha.n nigrahaM manye vaayoriva sudushhkaram.h ..

 

Verily, the mind, O Krishna, is restless, turbulent, strong and

unyielding; I regard it quite as hard to achieve its control, as that

of the wind.

 

To which, Krishna responds:

 

asa.nshayaM mahaabaaho mano durnigraha.n chalam.h .

abhyaasena tu kaunteya vairaagyeNa cha gR^ihyate ..

 

Without doubt, O mighty-armed, the mind is restless, and difficult to

control; but through practice and renunciation, O son of Kunti, it

may be governed.

 

In Sri Ramana's words, live your life like a passenger in a

train; the baggage need not be carried on the back by the passenger.

The train driver will take both to the desired destination. So leave

the 'driving' to the Divine 'saarathii'!!
