Guest guest
Dear Members, I chanced to follow the discussion on the consecration of Sarada on the confluence of Tungabhadra river bank by Sankara. It seems that the main intention of BGS is to identify the place as quoted in various unimpeachable documentary evidence like the Sankara dig-vijayam and books published by the followers of Sringeri (tunga) and Sringeri (Tunga Bhadra) Mutts. It is to be noted that BGS does not rely upon on any of the publications of Kanchi Mutt. The discussion is only about the identification of Sarada's Kshetra as mentioned in the old books. There is no necessity for a debate on the status or originality or young age of any Sankarite Institution. Instead of Kudali, Mr. Sundar could suggest some other place as the place of consecration of Sarada Devi by Sankara with solid proof. He need not say that the Kanchi kamakoti Sankara Mutt is a tundu (branch) Mutt of some other Amnaya Mutt ! I request him to discuss the issue of establishment of these Amnaya Mutts by sankara in some other suitable forum. A good number of modern historians, erudite scholars and jurists have clearly stated that Sankara founded a number of monastic institutions and of which Kanchi is one. Ample evidences are available in various old and modern, puranic, biographical, literary and historical works regarding Sankaracharya's establishing the Mutt at kanchi and his having presided over it. I am not able to understand why Mr.Sundar gives a reference that the Kanchi Sankaracharya Mutt has been VERY ACTIVE IN THE RECENT TIMES. This statement might enrage many a thinking Advaitin. sviyaas.ayarvada bhaanti pareshaam cithavruthaya: prathimaamukhacandrasyashtapaaneyotideerghatam II "Even as the face which is round like the moon, looks elongated in the reflection in a sword, so also a person judges others by his own standard".
