which purana mentions the story of Devi taking birth as

 

the daughter of pandya king in madurai?

 

i am of the opinion that this story is just a creation.

for what ?" are u trying to "prove" or disprove smthg here ? No

offence intended..apart from the shrutis which are considered

authorless, (I say considered becos people can and have quoted

dates when these were "created") i can argue that everything else

is open to question (of course, people question what is incl. in

the Vedas too) WHO decided that the MahaPuranas, Devi Bhagavatham,

etc are genuine (anyway, what does this means ?!) I have seen

"research" work where statements like "the nAmA kAmesha baddha

mAN^galyasUtrashobhitakandharA indicates that the LS is a creation

of the smArthA brahmins becos the mangalsutra "custom" is one that

does not find mention in the Vedas (of course, not having read the

vedas, i cannot refute this) Still, even if i were to discover

that this were the case, so what ? I doubt that i will start

questioning the authenticity of the LS then.. which is why i fail

to see the point you are trying to make.. are you of the opinion

that the stories in the Periya Puranam are figments of someone's

imagination then ?

 

Sorry if i sounded acerbic, i just find this attitude puzzling

and if i may say so, with no merits..
