Hare Krishna

Pls accept my humble obeisance's

All Glories to Mother ambaal

I have seen a few photos of mother Durga sitting on her vehicle such as

a Tiger and a lion.So my question is which one is her vehicle (Vahana)?

And why does mother ambaal choose to sit on this two vehicle (Vahana)

What is mother ambaal favorite flower?

Hi,

Tiger or Lion, it is interchangeable. You have to ask the

artist why he chose that :) With regards to the vahana, we

all know that the Lion is King. And Durga is after all the

Queen of the Cosmos. That's one of the reasons.

Namaste,

Vishal.

Namaste,

In Durga-sapta-shati there are several references to the lion

only, and none to tiger!

Ch. 2:29 is the first ref.: Himavat gave a lion to Devi to ride on.

Elsewhere Devi is referred to as si.nha-vaahinii.

Regards,

s.

Namaste,

In Calcutta, for Durga Puja, the flowers used are Tuberose

[rajanigandha], Marigold, and Lotus. The following news item will

give someidea:

Flower cultivation in limbo after floods

CALCUTTA : Flower cultivators in the nine flood-ravaged districts in

West Bengal are in limbo. Just before the pujas floods came in and

made them helpless, losing everything..

For the puja organisers, this year , collecting flowers may be a

difficult task this year as flowers generally used for Durga puja are

in short supply in the market.

Since vast stretches of Nadia and North 24 Parganas are still under

flood waters, flowers will not reach Calcutta from these two

districts for the pujas this time. Nearly 60 per cent of the total

flower supply meant for the Calcutta markets come from these two

districts. Tuberose(rajanigandha), Merigold are imported to Calcutta

from Nadia and North 24 Parganas. Districts like Birbhum, Burdwan and

Midnapore are the bulk supplier of lotus.

Members of the different puja committees in Calcutta are struggling

hard to procure lotus. The 'sandhi puja' at the conjunction

of 'ashtami' and 'navami' requires the use of 108 lotus flowers.

Supply of flowers in recent times in Calcutta's Mullickghat flower

Market, the only big one in the eastern region, has reduced to a half.

According to Narayan Chandra Nayak of the Mullickghat Fulchasi O

Byabasayi Sangram Samity, now the average daily supply of flowers in

Mullickghat has come down to 10 tonnes from the usual 20 tonnes. On

the other hand prices of flowers in the market has gone up high.

Meanwhile flower cultivators and traders of the flood-hit districts

on Monday demanded fresh loan for their survival. In a statement,

Nayak urged the state government to provide them with free seeds,

fertiliser and saplings.
