AUM shrImAtre namaH

 

\centerline {.. ambikAtrishatI ..}

\centerline {gaN^gAdharamakhivirachitA .}

 

paramAbharaNa.n sha.nbhoH parvatanAthasya puNyaparipAkaH .

nijalochanavIkShaNato rakShitalokatraya.n cha tadratnam .. 1 ..

 

(That jewel, which is the greatest ornament of Lord Shambhu and which is the

fruition of the merits of Himavan, the lord of mountains, protects all the

three worlds by a mere glance.)

 

nigamAntaparamavidyA dadyAdadya pramodamiha namatAm .

nikhilacharAcharachinmayarUpa.n rakShAkara.n cha lokAnAm .. 2 ..

 

(Let the ultimate knowledge that is found in the end of the vedas - vedanta

or upanishads give happiness to those who worship the form that is the

consciousness of all sentient and insentient beings and that protects the

worlds.)

(The idea here is that the goddess is the essence of the consciousness in

all

beings. The person who worships her understands the essence of the

upanishads which is that there is only one ultimate being - the goddess.)

 

AdR^itashivavAmAntAm AryAm AryAbhimAnyamahimAnam .

Agamamaulivata.nsA.n vande chidrUpakandalA.n jananIm .. 3 ..

 

(I bow to Mother, who occupies the left portion of Siva, whose greatness is

understood by good people, who is the crest jewel of the vedas and who is a

part (?) of pure consciousness.)

 

paramashivabhAgadheya.n suramunimanujAdibhiH sadA dhyeyam .

yannAma karNapeya.n pAtu sadA vedamaulikAmeyam .. 4 ..

 

The nama that is the fortune of Lord Siva, that is always meditated upon by

devas, sages and mortals, that which sweet to the ears and that which is

spoken of in the upanishads as the one thing that is to be desired the

most.)

 

jayati tavAmba kaTAkShe ko vA seveta kalpabhUmiruham .

kAmAdihAnido.asau namatA.n sa.npatpradAnakR^itadIkShaH .. 5 ..

 

(Mother, when Your kaTAksha shine who will worship the kalpataru - that

which gives kama and other destructive things and that which has taken a vow

to give material things to those who worship it.)

(When one worships the kalpataru one gets ivolved in the material and

perishable things. Whereas when one worships the Goddess and when Her

kaTAksha fall on Her devotees, they are blessed with spirituality and

imperishable happiness.)
