if u r aware of bharathanatyam, the dancer exhibits certain

abhinayams (ie symbols or say body gestures)and various

kinds of body movements to indicate the viewers the

meanings of the words of the songs. similarly the various

body movements by the deaf and dumb communicating

their views to others.in mother's worship these gestures

r called mudhras.many kinds of mudhras are indicated

inthe Tantra sastras.there r many explanations and

tatwas r given in detail in pancharathra agamas.

these mudhras r given very important place in Pujas.

Ambaal is worshiped ten kinds of mudhras. in lalitha

sahasranama she is praised as Dasamudhrasamaradhya.

many tatwas r expressed by various ways of twisting

the fingers of both hands. further in yoga sastras and

other physiology, experts say that body nerves and nadis

r so effectively energised in these mudhras.

five fingers indicating five bhutas(elements) and five

krutyas.right hand indicate the prakasarupa shiva and

left hand indicate vimarsarupa shakthi.

union of shakthi and shiva with five elements bring

forth creation of this universe and allied activities.

starting with thrilokya mohana chakra with sarvasam-

kshobini mudhra and ending with sarvanandamaya chakra

with yomudhra and showing thrikanda indicating

samashti rupa

yoni mudhra is the form of Mother and all originating

from this only.
