This Compilation is a collection of Arunagirinathar's Thripugazl, and selections

from Great Thirumurai Traditions of the 63 Nayanmars. This Compilation is a

collection of Arunagirinathar's Thirupugazh, and selections from the Great

Thrimurai traditions of the 63 Nayanmars.

 

Vocal:

 

Sri Chaithanyanandnada Sarasvathi - The Peetadhipathi of the Sri

Rajarajeswari Peetam has been singing Thirumurai from his very early age. He has

had no formal training in music, yet he has learnt some compositions from Sri

Dharmapuram Swaminathan when he had visited Sri Lanka in the sixties.

Chaithanyananda has developed a tradition in the Peetam to include Thirumuri

from the rich Saivaite literature alongside the Vedic Chanting and popular

Bhajan's.

Sri Santhanagoopalan - He was initiated by his mother into the realm of

music at the age of 4 and had the good fortune of learning under great stalwarts

like, Chembai Sri.C.S. Anandan. Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam. Thanjavur Sri

Sankaraiyeer and later on with Sri T.N. Seshagopalan (in gurukulam style). He

has been awarded titles like "Isai Peroli", "Yuva Kala Bharathi", "Youth award

for excellence" etc by the prestigious Sabhas of Madras. He is a "A" grade

artiste with AIR and Doorshan. He has performed all over India and abroad. He

has carved himself a niche in the realm of Carnatic Music, by giving concerts in

a unique style of fine blend of great styles reflecting his training under great

maestros.

 

 

 

Violin:

 

· Sri Sunderraajan – hails in the lineage of Flute Maestro Brahmasri

Sharabha Sastrigal. He is a disiple of Sangeethabhushanam Sri V. Janakiraman. He

was recognized as a child prodigy and has established himself as an artiste of

great talent, dedication and creativity. He has given solo performances all over

the country and abroad. He has accompanied all the distinguished musicians. He

has the rare distinction of winning the Madras Music Academy's prestigious award

as the Best accompanying violinist for 3 years in succession. He has also won

many other awards and is one of the most sought after violins artist in India.

All India Radio gave him an age exemption when they made him a graded artiste at

the age of 13. he has performed all over the world and skill on the violin has

been acclaimed by both music critics and the rasikas in India and abroad. He has

established Venkata Academy of Music and Arts to impart training in the field of

Carnatic Music.

 

Mirudangam:

 

· In his career as a Mirudangam artiste spanning nearly four decades. Sri

Raja Rao has earned the respect and admiration of not only for the rasikas but

also fellow artistes and is now among the top few percussionists in the Carnatic

Music. He hails from a family of fine musicians. His father and grandfather

being great vidwans themselves. He is a prime example of great Mirudangam

players trained by the legendary Kumbakonam Rajapaa Iyer and is keeping up the

traditions in concerts all over the world. In his more than dozen tours of North

America and the countess tours of other countries. He has established himself as

a fine artiste, a great accompanist contributing greatly to the success of the

concert. He has played for all the leading artiste himself, though he has

confined himself mostly to the percussion field. He has been awarded many titles

and awards including the appointment as " Asthana Vidwan" by both Kanchi Kamkoti

Peetam, and Sringeri Sarada Peetam, also by the Pillayarpatti Ganapathy Temple.
