Guest guest
> kAme kamanIye axiNI yasyAH | samAsAntaShTach.h | ... akshin is the root of the word and so the nominative dual is akshiNI. "whose two eyes are lovely". kAme axiNI yasyAH - is vigraha vAkya. The compound word has only the two words kAma (root word) and akshiN (root word). Here a suffix Shach is added at the end of kAmAkshiN. This results in kAmAksha. As the resultant word should indicate feminine form, a feminine suffix is added and the word kAmAkshI is got. pANini gives the rule that the samAsAnta or the suffix to be added at the end of the compound is 'shach'. But Bhaskararaya gives the samAsAnta as 'Tach'. I am not sure about this difference. Regards Aarathi.
