Some of the constructs in abhirAmI antAdi are so beautiful and

emotionally packed with true sentiments of a devotee which

many can identify with.

For instance:

O Divine Mother!

The golden one

That excels as an half of the Lord

Who slayed the three cities

With a golden bow

And plucked an head of brahma

Effortlessly with his hand

Knowing thou art supreme

I sought refuge in thee

But discard me not saying

In the star studded galaxy

Of my great devotees*

You are worthless to be one

O Mother!

I am an orphan

Without thy support

However unfit I may be

I have no refugee but thee

(Probably Suprabha can do a better job of making it a poetry in

English)

param enRu unnai aDaindEn thamiyEnum bhaktarakkuL

taraM anRu evan enRu thaLLath thagaathu ...

prose translation:

Considering that you are supreme this orphan sought refuge in you.

Citing that he is worthless to be among my devotees do not push me

away. (here I did not include the other two lines)

- You are

param - supreme

enrU - considering thus

thamiyenum - this orphan

aDainthEn - came

unnai - to you.

bhaktarukkuL - Among thy devotees

evan - he

taram anRu - does not have the quality (to be among them)

enRu - considering thus

- you

taLLa tagaathu - should not push me away

----------

*In some other place in the same work, the poet gives the illustrious

list of other great devotees.
