She is requested with reverence to reside on the tongue and precede it with delight. dorbhiryuktaa chaturbhiH sphaTikamaNimayiimakshamaalaaM dadhaanaa hastenaikena padmaM sitamapi cha shukaM pustakaM chaapareNa . bhaasaa kundendu shaN^khasphaTikamaNinibhaa bhaasamaanaa.asamaanaa saa me vaagdevateyaM nivasatu vadane sarvadaa suprasannaa .. She is refereed as suyamA or one who is easy to be restrained or controlled or kept in order. To regulate one’s speech is an austerity highly cherished by the wise and hence Dikshitar carefully uses the adjective ‘mati-mat’ to indicate that only wise men who really know the value of vAk can command her. ‘maN^gaLapradayA sadayayA shrI sarasvatyA sa.mraxitoham’ ShrI sarasvatI who generously bestows prosperity has sheltered me. dayA is the most adorable guNa ratna than numerous nava-ratna-s. sarasvatI is an embodiment of compassion and hence addressed as ‘sadayA’. With utmost compassion she blesses all prosperity ‘maN^gaLam’. Dikshitar concludes with these two beautiful salutations. May we seek the divine guidance of the goddess of knowledge sarasvatI for vishva maN^gaLam (universal prosperity). sarasvatyabhi no neSi vasyo mApa spharIH payasA mA na Adhak . juSasva naH sakhayA veshayA cha mA tvat xedgANy araNAni ganma..
