That word which indicates the ruler, one who fulfils all desires, who cannot come within the scope of language, yet indicated by the word dAtR^i - giver, very dear to all and auspicious, She is known as "shivA". viShNumAyA sadbuddhyAdhiShThAtR^idevI vidyamAnA yuge yuge. sR^iShtA mAyA purA sriShTA viShNunA paramAtmanA..5.. mohitaM ca yayA vishvaM viShNumAyA ca kIrtitA. In every yuga She is seen as having 'sat' (brahman) as Her abode. She was created long ago by Lord ViShNu and by Her the whole was deluded. Hence She is known as "viShNumAyA".
