Guest guest
Dear Mike, You had asked in the forum what is the name if the parrot in Mother Meenakshi's hand, I read somewhere that it is Vak Devi. I read one material about Thirumeeyachur, where our Mother is worshipped as Lalithambika, in this the following was mentioned about Vak devadas " OM Sree Matha Sree Maharanganee Sreemath simhaneswari.... Thus begins the Sri Laliths Sahasranama stothra, while initiating him, Lord Hayagriva( Lord Vishnu with horse face, supposed to be god of Vidya) told sage Agasthya that the Goddess Lalithambigai created these Vak devadas from Her mouth and ordained Vassi and other Vak devadas to chant the prayer for the benifit of Her devotees". Thus Lalitha Sahasranama stothra was born by the grace of our Mother for our benifit of all of us. Incidentally in Kamakshiamman temple at Kanchi also these Vak devadas gaurd the Sri Chakram before our Mother, Kamakshi and also Karpagamba also hold parrot in their hands. Whether I am correct or wrong I am not sure so the learned in this sathsangh may pl. clarify and clear the doubts of Mike. regards Muruganandam
