Guest guest
Worshipping the deity in vilakku is also in other forms of the Supreme. Madhvas worship Lord Venkatesa in a lamp during Navaratri and also chant Venkatesa mahatmya. In addition the lamp burns continuously for all the 9 days and worshipped with all ritual purity and mantras. The Lord can be invoked in any natural element as He is present in a form in each of these. I remember, though I am unable to recall exactly the source, to an Upanishadic reference which says that agni derives his heat from a presence of a form of the Supreme that provides it and so also other elements.
