Dear All,

Greetings.

1. I had posted a message a few weeks ago requesting comments on

whether Durga Saptashati can be chanted by all or it can be done

after due initiation.

2. Going by some of the postings relating to this topic (including

the following one from Harsha), it appears as though the pre-

requisite qualifications for chanting DM are very many, and therefore

it is not meant for common use.

3. But at the same time, there are people who say that Durga

Saptashati can be chanted by all - as long as devotion is the

overriding reason. I am also seeing several astrologers prescribing

chanting of Durga Sapatashati to ward off calamities due to planetary

influences.

4. Another angle to point 2, how practical/easy it is to seek a Guru

who can initiate into DM parayanam - if initiation is an absolute

must - especially since many of us are scattered all over the world?

I would really appreciate (and I am sure there will be many people

like me) - any authentic opinions/prescriptions/sanctions are

available for modern age.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Regards,

Murali
