Can someone shed light on the relevance of the Bhagavathy Sevai pooja?

The pooja is performed to a Villakku (Lamp) with certain tantric and

mantric protocols and supposedely brings the devi (aavahanam) to the lamp.

I dont know much about the details of the pooja. But this is a common

practise in Kerala where Namboodari's perform the pooja. In a number

of south indian places the pooja is often performed by regular

priests. The lamp is placed on the srichakra that is drawn to

dimension and decorated with yellow, red and white rangoli powder.

 

It would be nice if someone can explain the relevance of the pooja and

the actual reasoning behind somee of the protocols in the pooja.
