Meaning:

Uma taking the form of female elephant, in the form of

male elephant the Lord of valivalam - the place of

philanthropists, blessed the devotees by bringing out

gaNapathi who removes the hurdles of the devotees

worshiping the Holy Feet of the Lord !

Notes:

1. The significance of gaNesha is beautifully

explained in this hymn. This also very cleanly

explains why gaNapathi worship is taken up first

before starting the pUjA of the Supreme Lord shiva.

2. Note the words "vara aruLinan" and also notice the

words, "oru thiru murugan van^dhAN^gu 'udhiththanan' "

in kandha purANam.

3. piDi - female elephant, kari - male elephant, iDar

- hurdles

I said I gave my body - became far off from guru's teachings

I said I gave my mind - became far off from the linga

I said I gave my wealth - became far off from the devotees

There is nothing more disasterous than the disaster I got ito by saying "I did

for You", kUDalasangamadEva ! - basavaNNa
