Who is Aludai adigal? >From the context it seems to refer to >Manikkavaachakar. Is this a well-known epithet of >Manikkavaachakar or is it one given by the author? It is a name given to MANikka VAsagar. All the four of them have names starting with 'ALudaiya'. ALudaiya PiLLai - Thiru GnAna Sambandhar ALudaiya Nambi - SundharaMurthi ALudaiya adigaL - MaNikka VAsagar Appar also has such a name. It escapes my memory. Avudaiyar KOyil is actually 'ALudaiyAr Koyil' because that is the place that Siva took MANikkaVAsagar as his adimai.
