Meaning:

Gasping and with a dried out mouth not even able to

raise the tongue, gulping the liquids that are

squeezed in the mouth (by relatives) soaking in cotton

- like those stupids who do not think about the Feet

of Lord shiva, why do you worry my mind ? The One who

rides the bull that leaps steadily, the Black-throated

one - worshiping His ArUr, we will be uplifted. Don't

be bewildering and frightened !

Notes:

It is those who do not either have their own strength

or a strong one with them who get frightened. Why

should the devotees who have surrendered themselves

completely on to the Supreme who is the Ultimate

strength, be afraid ? Naturally the saint appar

against whom the emperor of the pallava kingdom

ordered an execution roared firmly, "nAmArkkum

kuDiyallOm namanaiyanychOm" (We won’t be afraid of

death). This strength with the continuously springing

love will make ones life very enjoyable on earth.

Very nice observation.

I think the first part of "naamaarkkum kuDiyallom namanai anjOm" is

also makes an important point. Which would translate into "We are not

subject to anyone (excepting the Lord) and we do not fear death.

I think, "pEdhai" should be translated as ignorant instead of stupid.
