Guest guest
Jaybee> Who are the three persons then? The second line says puranam solla. It could be referring only to the periyapuranam and the devotees there in.Does Gopalakrishna Bharati cite any obscure and not popular references any where else? KaNNappar is not a pulaiyar>> I was under the impression that Pulayar generally refers to certain trades and specifically leather, hunting ,fishing.. I would like to know on what basis do you say that Kannapar was not a pulayar? Sincerely Vidya Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports. Providence provided the answer:-) I had declared a 'Thamilzh Thaaththaa Week' starting from the 19-2-2002 in the Agathiyar Group in honour of U.VE.Saminatha Aiyar's birthday. I was posting his writings and other materials about him. Dr.Aiyar had written the biography of GopalaKrishNa Bharathiyar. I am in the process of posting this biography in the Agathiyar. You can see them in the folowing URLs: agathiyar/message/16056 agathiyar/message/16057 agathiyar/message/16060 agathiyar/message/16062 I have'nt finished it yet. Dr.Aiyar has written about the episode wherein Bharathiyar met with Thiyaagaiyar in ThiruvaiyaaRu where Bharathiyar composed 'Sabaapathikku vERu Dheiyvam samaanamaagumaa!' kiirththanai. For the words' 'ariya pulaiyar muuvar padham adaindhaar', Dr.Aiyar has given the commentary as 'PeRRaan Saamban, Nandhaanaar, and Thillai Vettiyaan'. You see, this kiirththanai does not come in the 'Nandhanaar chariththirak kiirththanaigaL' composition. It was not purported to be sung by nNandhanaar but by Bharathiyaar himself. This is a 'thaniyan' composed on the occasion of Bharathiyaar's meeting with Thiyaagaiyyar. I will recant the episode in another mail.
