vinata - Ali - vibhavadA te kaTAkSha - dhArA vibhAti lokAmba .

kusuma - shara - shAstra - siddhipradA girIshasya yogihR^iddIpA .. 20 ..

Mother of the world! Your kaTAkSha shines forth (vibhAti) as the giver of

prosperity (vibhavadA) to the swarm of people (Ali) bowing to you (vinata).

While for Himavan (girIsha) You gave the fruit of manmatha's shAstra, You

also shine as the light in the hearts of yogis.

namaste Aarathiji:

Thank you for writing it in this format. It could be read without

much effort.

kusuma shara shAstra - could mean kAdi vidya. kAdi vidya is

attributed to manmAtha, likewise hAdi vidya to lopAmudra.

namaste Aarathiji:

It is only a possible interpretation of that term. As "kAdi vidya"

reading of panchadashi is by manmatha -- for reference, see the

commentary on the name "kandarpa vidya" in lalitAtrishatI bhAshhya.

With respects,

The other interpretation would be based on bhagavad giita chapter 10

verse 28 " prajanashchAsmi kandarpaH" - Sankara comments: prajanaH

prajaniiyata asmi kandarpaH kamaH (there may be errors as I saw this

on Sunday). In this context, the fruit of kusuma shara shastra - is

having a child. Considering that himavAn had ambaaL HERSELF as his

daughter - justifies kusuma shara shaastra siddhi pradaa. It should

be noted, however, that umA did not take birth through womb of

Himavan's wife (menA??) but from the sacrificial fire -- as ayonijA.

Now I have a question - should one tie gender to the term kusuma

shara? If not, ambaaL HERSELF holds flower arrows -- then the term

can take a different interpretation and possibly denote "devii giita"

which ambaaL taught to himavaan (vide devi bhaagavatam).
