Guest guest
Pranams, Gayatri - Veda Mata as we all know her as, itself is a woman. This was a point recently raised in a recent discussion we had among friends on who can chant the Vedas. It's a coincidence that this topic is also being discussed in this group. My personal viewpoint ... I have read the Hindu Dharma and I agree with Shri Ravi on what is being said. However, it is very difficult to adhere to some of the items listed in this book, which is I believe is a traditional approach. I have the highest respect for Paramacharya. Some of the items 1) Woman should not chant the vedas. 2) Woman should not work and her primary responsiblity is to take care of the kids. 3) Woman should shave their head after they become a widow. Are these practical these days. I would specifically like to express my viewpoint on item 1 which is the topic being discussed. - I am a Dwija , but I had such a tough time learning Vedas from a Guru We have several priests who are very learned but are not willing to teach because they don't have the time or they don't want to transmit the knowledge they have to a true seeker. - All the chants should be done with proper intonations, otherwise these will have adverse effects. This is true. There are rules with the chants as with everything else. - The bottom line is our love, sincerity and indomitable faith in the lord. All of us irrespective of caste and creed are embodiments of love and as long as we can do it right with love towards GOD, it doesn't really matter.
