can some please give me the meaning of this dyana mantra from the rdura

kavacham:

shantam padmaasanatham shashidharaa makutam panchavaktram trinetram

shuulam vajram cha khadagam parashumbha bhayadam dakshabaange mahantam

Naagam paasham cha ghantam pralaya huutavahum sankusham vaama bhaage

naanaalankarayuktam sphatikamininibham paarvatisham namaami.

This is the mantra via which one meditates on shiva before reciting the armour

of lord rudra. I problem is I dont know some of the meanings of this mantra and

therefore find it difficult to visualise the lord in accordance to the mantra. I

could use a dictionary but then again I know there are some very wise people in

the club and resort to your wisdom.

Indeed one could translate this but a little elaboration on context, text and

composer would help a lot. Are there any particular themes in the mantra? Where

is the poetic eloquence been derived from? and why such wordings? these are a

few question that come into perspective.

What Idea is rishi Durvasa conveying like symbolism and via the physical

attributes what kind of personality is the sage affiliating with lord rudra?

Dear friend,

I have made some corrections in the shloka and given

the meaning line-by-line, to the best of my knowledge.

Hope this helps you.

Corrections welcome.

Rajani

shaantam padmaasanastham shashidharaa makuTam

panchavaktram trinetram

shuulam vajram cha khadgam parashumabhayadam

dakshabhaage vahantam

Naagam paasham cha ghantaam pralaya hutavaham

sankusham vaama bhaage

naanaalankaarayuktam sphaTikamaNinibham paarvatiisham

namaami.

Calm, seated in the Padmasana pose, bearing the moon

as the head-ornament, five-faced, three-eyed

Holding the trident, thunderbolt, sword , axe and

abhaya-hasta on His right side

Holding the snake, noose, bell, fire of pralaya along

with the ankusha(elephant-goad) on His left hands

Adorned with various ornamnent, pure as crystal, I

salute the Lord of Parvati (who is thus).

Sorry about the errors,

I have wrote the mantra off the top of my head. But anyways it is good to study

that particular mantra of lord shiva because one does not have to have a great

comprehension of the sanskrit language to see what names Durvasa is joing with

rudra.

Can anyone explain to me the actual significanse of neelagreeva I know it means

blue neck and I also know it is dirived from the halahal poison incident but why

is the name or form of such importance the same I would like to aks about

saharaxsha and karpadin. These deities or forms of shiva or even names of shiva

I would like to know more about.

Thanks in advance.
