Guest guest
Hi Sanjay: I can't answer your question I'm afraid. But I will add to it: Can anyone tell us the dates of the four Navratris, and to which deities each one pertains? Guest guest
Dear Sanjay Devi mahatmya says " sart kalee maha puja kriyate ya ca varshaki, thasyan mahatmyam uchhariyam sravayameva ca" Sri bhaskara raya comments that by the usage of "ca" indicates "and" and hence two navarati's one in sarat kala and one in vasanta kala. Usually chanting of Devi mahatmyam on all the days is recommenedfor both. In vasant kala navarati , it is generally accepted that it is Lalitha's and hence nava avarana pooja is done on all the days. one elder commented that considering that an year is a day for the devas , the vasant kala pooja is their nitya archana and the sarat kala poja is the naimittika archana( nithya archana is done on the day time and naimitika after sunset). Though all the six ritus should have navarati's only two more are in vouge one being the syamala navarati in pushya masa and one in ashada masa for varahi. Even though these devatas have emated from Lalitha ,they are given prominence due to the parasurama sutra which says to do aradana to these devatas as a pre-requisite for Lalitha anugraha like pleasing the minister and commander in chief before approching the king.
