Om

I have a couple of Questions and some praises

Kudos to the mailing list, I now am reading all the

past mails in th thread and it is a mine of

information!

Questions

A) I came across two different versions of a line in

the dhyana sloka for godess Gayatri. I would like to

know which one is appropriate

1. In the R.S Vadiyar publication,

the third line goes as follows

Gayatri VardhaaBhyankushaKasha: Shubram Kapalam gunam

while in the 108 names of Gayatri which has the same

Dhyana sloka the line goes thus.

Gayatri VardhaaBhyankushaKasha: Shubram Kapalam gadaam

where the gunam is replaced by gadaam

can some one tell me the correct one?

B) The Indrakshi sthothram is very effective if

chanted with the Shiva Kavacham and is done so in a

lot of places in Kashmir and in the south

Can some one tell me the reason for this?

Because Indrakshi sthothram is from the Markandeya

Puranam and one would imagine that the Rudra Kavacham

which occurs in the same Puranam would be chanted.

The Shiva Kavacham is from Skanda Puranam

How did they get to be chanted together? is there a

history behind this?

C) Going through the past mails I came across a lot of

references to Sri Vidya Upasanam, what are the

Motivations, Requirements, Regulations to take it up?

for example,

Does one have to know the agama/veda shastras as a pre

requisite?

Do the rituals require a pure surroundings like a

temple etc?

Om
