Guest guest
Namaste, Some time back, there was a site devoted to temples in TamilNadu that were facing the problem of lack of proper maintenance, which mentioned a temple near Chennai, with Goddess Kamakshi as the presiding deity. Could someone please tell me what temple this was ? The site I am referring to is www.southindiantemples.com, but the page unfortunately no longer exists. Regards, Sridhar. Guest guest
Dear Mr.Ravi and Mr.Jaybee, Thank you for your replies. Ravi, I cannot try templenet, because I don't remember what temple that was. It was not Maangaadu ! Even though my first post made some mention of this, this was an 'obscure' temple and I believe facing *real difficulties* like priest unable to perform the daily pooja etc, because of lack of funds etc. In fact, i believe the web-page was hosted as an appeal to people to help such temples. I could be wrong, i don't remember much about the page or the listed temples now. All I can remember is that the picture of the shiva-dampati at this temple was very beautiful ! It is definitely not Maangaadu, Thiruverkaadu, Thanjavur or any other temple that most people (I think) would have heard of earlier. Regards, Sridhar. > Maanggaadu Kamatchi Temple is the nearest to Chennai. > Banggaaru Kaamaatchi is in Thanjavur.
Guest guest
Dear friends, By a stroke of luck, I managed to run into the temple while aimlessly surfing the web. The temple I mentioned is the "Neelakanteswar & Kamakshi Temple" at Kerugambakkam, near Porur. The very beautiful images of the Shiva-Dampati can be seen at the following page, including information about the temple. http://www.tnagar.com/devotions/neelakanta.html If someone has more knowledge about the temple, and could tell me/others how to help, I will be very grateful.
