Guest guest
Dear friends, I updated the audio section of ambaa.org with excerpts from Smt. Nityashree's exquisite concert at the Bharathiya Temple of Troy, Michigan. The concert was part of the Navarathiri celebrations at the temple and was held on October 16th, 1999. Smt. Nityashree was accompanied by Smt. Kalpana Venkat and Sri I.Sivakumar. The following songs have been added from that concert : (i) sarasvati manohari - muttusvAmi dIkShitar (ii) mInalocana brOva - shyAmA shAstri (iii) durgA devI - harikeshanaLLuR muttiAh bhAgavatar (iii) mA madurai mInAkShi - kallaDaikuricci viNai sundaram iyer (iv) shivashakti kUttu - subrahmanya bhArati and (v) shrI abhayAmbA - muttusvAmi dIkShitar. I will remove these files next Friday. In order to create space for these files, I had to remove all the other audio files. I will put them back once I remove these (next Friday). The files are at http://www.ambaa.org/audio/kritis/index.html I have many people to thank for this "project". First in that list would be Mr. Rangaswamy of the Great Lakes Aradhana Committee, under whose auspices the concert was held and he readily agreed to the use of the songs. Also Mr. Lakshman Ragde who frequently supplies me with lyrics for the compositions, and he did so this time as well. I also stole the meanings for the Dikshitar and Shyama Shastri compositions from sangeetham.com medieval.org If someone could post the words for the Subrahmanya Bharati song, that would be nice (it starts with "taga taga taga taga tagavena" and is labelled shakti kUttu) Needless to say, the inspiration for this came from Ravi Mayavaram, who has always been of immense guidance to me. Regards, Sridhar.
