Dear Friends,

Tomorrow, 19-11-2002 is a Full Moon's day -

PaurNami. PaurNami lasts the whole day.

BaraNi lasts until 6-17pm. IST. Which means

that Kaarthikai starts from 6-17 pm.

PaurNami and Kaarthikai are coinciding after

6-17 pm IST, 8-47pm MST(Malaysia/Singapore).

The same combination does not prevail on the

in the evening of the next day - 20-11-2002.

I was thinking that it would be more appropriate

to celebrate ThiruKaarthikai on 19th which is more auspicious.

Anyway thats what I am going to do.

Light all the Kaarthikai Diipams after 8-45pm on

19-11-2002.

Regards

JayBee

Dear Dr. JayBee,

As a practice kArthikai dIpam is celebrated at homes immediately

after the jyothi is lit at thieuvaNNAmalai, as if receiving that

Supreme jyothi into our houses and towns. Because this festival is

very closely associated with thiruvaNNAmalai.

Technically umA maheshvara vrata

(http://www.shaivism.org/fesumama.html ) would be observed when full

moon is present and kArthikai dIpam on the day of thiruvaNNAmalai

dIpam (or on the day following - for countries like US).
