Guest guest
Namaskaram. Vaarshika Aaradhana (Anniversary) of Sri Chandrikananda Swamigal of Puliyur (Nagapattinam Taluk) falls on 22nd Dec 2002 (Krishna Trithiyai). Br. Sri K Dinakara Sarma of Kumbakonam and his team will performa Navavarna Pooja, Manthra Sastra Aavahanthi Homam (there is one Vedic Aavahanti Homam too), Suvasini Pooja etc. We will be in attendance. Incidentally, Vyagrapuri Veda Paripala Samiti, 25 Govindu Street, T.Nagar, Chennai 600 017 Ph: 044-8157926 or 2345287) has taken up renovation and kumbabhishekam of this Adishtanam complex. One new MahaMantapam is in final stages of completion. Besides, we need to repair the Garbagriham and the Vimanams, besides conduct of Kumbabhishekam - in Jan/Feb 2003. Kasi Baana Linga pratishtapanam was done in 1860, subsequently, on 12.5.1940 and 9.11.1981 kumbabhishekams were conducted. I am associated with this divine project. We request devotees of Sri Mata to help completion of this project and kumbabhishekam. The Samiti regularly conducts Srowtha Karmas, Vishesha Homams and Veda Paraayanam at Sri Sivakama Sundhari Samedha Sri Vyagrapureeswarar temple (worshipped by Sage Vyagrapathaa, hence named "Puliyur"), and Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal temple since 1994. Guest guest
namaskar shri satish! you state that "The main teachers of SriVidya are DakshinaMurti, Ananda Bhairava, Hayagriva and Dattatreya." may i please ask you one question? what about shri adi shankara bhagvadapada? should he not be included in this list of teachers ! he is supposed to be an incarnation of shri dakshinamurthy and lord siva... in the last verse in saundarya-lahari, sri sankara states... "in the Pradeepa jvaalaabhir-divasakara neeraajana vidhih Sudhaa sootes-chandraopala jala lavair-arghya rachanaa; Swakeeyair-ambhobhih salila nidhi sauuhitya karanam Tvadeeyaabhir-vaagbhi stava janani vaachaam stutiriyam" Composing these verses in praise of You, O Mother, in words originating from You, is like worshipping the Sun by waving a light, offering arghya to the Moon with drops of water dripping from a moon- stone and bathing the ocean with its own water. in effect what our beloved adi shankara is stating is that the divine mother herself is speaking through these verses... on other words, the divine mother is the source of this beautiful compostion... the soundarya lahari is one of the best treatises on sri chakra and kundalini awakening.. since these are all contained in sree vidya , is shnakara bhagvadapada not one of the teachers? please let me know ... thank you kindly! om sree matrayaii namaha! That is because, there are seperate methods of worship with each of their names. Thus we have SriChakra Puja according to DakshinaMurti Samparadaya, the same SriChakra Puja with some differences according to Ananda Bhairava Sampradaya..and so is the case with the other two teachers. Even the deavatas worshipped in the Srichakra vary with each of these samparadayas. Hence special importance to these four teachers. To sum up, the four teachers taught different methods of worshipping Srichakra. All the present procedures of worship for Srichakra can be categorised into any of these four. As for Adi Shankaracharya, there is no seperate sampradaya with his name. Probably he belongs to one of the above four sampradayas. > in effect what our beloved adi shankara is stating is that the divine > mother herself is speaking through these verses... > > on other words, the divine mother is the source of this beautiful > compostion... > > the soundarya lahari is one of the best treatises on sri chakra and > kundalini awakening.. since these are all contained in sree vidya , > is shnakara bhagvadapada not one of the teachers? Adi Shankara is considered one of the great teachers of Srividya. Acharyas works seem to suggest his ishTa(favorite deity )is Sriman Narayana/Laxmi Nrisimha. For reasons given above, the four teachers are the main ones. Saundaryalahari does not explain how to do the Bahya Puja (external worship), which is the first step. There is a legend saying that the first 41 verses of Saundaryalahari were not the composition of Acharya and that he got them from Kailasha, the abode of Parameshvara. Saundaryalahari might have been composed after a profound study of earlier works on Srividya. The sources for the earlier works being the four teachers. Corrections are welcome. regards
Guest guest
Thank you shri satish! you have given a great explanation... i have also heard it being mentioned that it is not 100% sure who the authotr of saundarya lahari is... but in any case, it is beautiful composition -full of lyrical beauty and very poetic! above all, bhakti flows like a water gushing from a waterfall! but on harshananda's web page i found this description of guru parampara,,,, SRI GURU PARAMPARA Sri Kameshwara - Sri Parabhattarikamba Sri Dakshinamurthy Sri Anandabhairava Kapila Atri Vasishta Sanaka Sanandana Bhrigu Sanatsujata Vamadeva Narada Gautama Shunaka Shakti Markandeya Kaushika Parashara Shuka Angirasa Kanva Jabali Bharadwaja Vedavyasa Bhagavan Sri Sri Govindabhagavatpadacharya Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpadacharya Sri Sureshwaracharya Nityabodhaghanacharya Jnanottamacharya Jnanagiri Simhagiri Ishwaratirtha Narasimhatirtha Vidyashankaratirtha Bharatitirtha - I Vidyaranya Chandrashekhara Bharati - I Narasimha Bharati - I Purushottama Bharati - I Shankara Bharati Chandrashekhara Bharati - II Narasimha Bharati - II Purushottama Bharati - II Ramachandra Bharati Narasimha Bharati - III Narasimha Bharati - IV Narasimha Bharati - V Abhinava Narasimha Bharati Sacchidananda Bharati - I Narasimha Bharati - VI Sacchidananda Bharati - II Abhinava Sacchidananda Bharati - I Narasimha Bharati - VII Sacchidananda Bharati - III Abhinava Sacchidananda Bharati - II Sri Sri Sri Ugra Narasimha Bharati - VIII Sri Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Sri Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati - III Sri Sri Valukeshwara Bharati Sri Sri Vidyabhinava Valukeshwara Bharati Sri Sri Sri Shankaranandanatha Harshanandanatha ********************************************************************** as u know our harsha is initiated in sri vidya and he has listed shankara bhagvatapada's name! ********************************************************************** on another note, our shankara beloved in manasic puja and believed in samaya method of worship - he was not into panca makaras or kaula worship... also, true our beloved shankarapada has composed devotional poems on almost all god and goddesses... but his compostions on devi are also well-known! devi herself appeared to him in the kailasa mountains and prepared him for a debate on shakti worship... his compositions on devi include but not limited to... 1) annapurnashtakam 2) tripurasunariashtakam 3) kanakadhara stotram 4) bhavaniashtakam 5) sharada stotram 6) kamakshi 7) meenakshi etc... in my opinion, although outwardly shri adi shankara appeared to be a jnani , he was a bhakta through and through as is obvious from all his devotional compostions such as baja govindam, govindashtakam, lakshmi narsimha stotram and devi stotrams... salutations to our respected jagadguru adi shhankara , a bhakta and a shakta par excellance. om sri matrayaii nmaha
