Meaning:

All the five grand senses captivated by the eyes,

the four immeasurable instruments (karaNa) becoming

the mind,

the three characters becoming the satva - the good

one,

(reaching) in the frontiers of joy that the

moon-living

Matted-haired Lord dances, delighted in the flood of

bliss that arose out of (seeing) the Unique Glorious

Dance,

(cundharar) bloomed in the matchless happiness.

1. Is devotion a yoga ? It certainly is. In fact it is

This hymn describes the state of a truly devoted

person

- cun^dharar - on seeing the Dance of Lord shiva.

The flood of devotion does not get stopped but rather

takes along with its current all the thing found on

the way - the five senses, the four karaNas. Isn't

yoga all about unifying ?! If one can generate this

good a flood of devotion that itself is a great yoga.

Isn't cEkkizAr very apt in calling cun^dharar - one

who asked for favors, led a married life - a well

matured shivayOgi ?!

2. This is the song that identified a guru for

kumaraguruparar.

3. ain^dhu pEr aRivu - vision, audition, smell, taste

and feel - senses; karaNaN^gaL n^Angu - manas,

budhdhi, chiththam, ahankAram; guNam mUnRu - satva,

rajas, tamas

4. cAththuvIkam - satva; in^dhu - moon; kUththu -

play/dance; mARilA - matchless.
