Guest guest
namsaskar respecred vijaya devi-swaroopini! i really liked every word in your divine explanation- full of amrita- nectar. yes , words are like 'arrows' (banas) once they leave the Mouth (bow) , they cannot be taken back! that is why words should be like flowers! Pleasing (giving joy to one who hears and one who speaks) -harshanam palatable- it should be acceptable- (palatable) - not harsh in tone or manner or meaning charm- one hears it must be attracted by the speech so they can act upon it soshanam- comforting or healing- wipe away any wounds to erase- words should also have the power of erasing any negativity or sorrow (maaranam) yes! speech is a powerful weapon and should be used with caution! satyam vada' priyam satyam vada ! speak truth; speak pleasant truths... and aha! the tanmatras! the five arrows also represent the 5 karmendriyas and the five jnanendriyas! ... all acts done by the body are karmenriyas- the eyes, the ear, skin, nose and tongue and with each of these karmendriyas , there are the corresponding jnaendriyas... so we associate the sense of smell with NOSE the sense of taste with tongue the sense of hearing with ears the sense of touch with the skin the sense of sight with the eyes!!! That is why jnanis always say that the ten headed demon Ravana is not the king residing in the majestic palace in sri lanka but the ten headedd demon are the 'dashaindriyas' residing in the human body--- it is the janedriyas that help us to use the power of discrimination what is called 'viveka' - to differentiate between what is good and what is bad , what is wrong or what is right, what is pure or what is impure so on and so forth! DID YOU KNOW THAT 'buddhi' resides in the Tongue AND NOT IN THE MANAS? that is why 'speech' is the 'tongue' is so important- but what controls the 'arrows' ? the manas or mind ... that is why the mind is likene to the 'sugarcane' bow in LS... IF THE MIND IS PURE AND SATTWIC, IT SENDS OUT 'SATTWIC' AND PURE THOUGHTS ! SO, THE MIND SHOULD BE SWEET LIKE THE SUGARCANE -full of sweetness - and the arrows that come out of this bow will also be soft and tender and not sharp and stinging! that is why our lalita devi is full of sowmya! saundaryam! susheelam! a treasure house of beauty! lavanyam! we women should all aspire to be like our beloved devi! om sree sree lalithambikayaii namaha!
