Guest guest
karmendriyas are different from jnanendriyas. As the two names suggest - karma is action and jnana is knowledge. The karmendriyas are five in no. - vaak(speech/throat), paaNi(hands), paada(legs), paayu and upastha(the excretal organs). These five are responsible for the body's action and not directly for any knowledge. The jnanendriyas are five as you have stated - eyes, tongue, nose, skin and ears. The jnana that arises out of these are rupa, rasa, gandha, sparsha and shabda. These are then debated over by manas which weighs the pros and cons of different actions that could be taken up. The buddhi then decides what to do and sends instructions to the karmendriyas accordingly. At this point we find a difference between a comman man and a jnani. A jnani also has these jnanendriyas acting but they act only when there is sadvishaya to sense. If the others then the manas does not have a connection with the indriya or it does debate over such issues other than the sadvishayas because his aatma controls the manas. We however do not possess such a control and hence our buddhi directs us in ways that land us in difficulties :-) corrections welcome Aarathi. > all acts done by the body are karmenriyas- the eyes, the ear, skin, > nose and tongue > > and with each of these karmendriyas , there are the corresponding > jnaendriyas... > > so we associate the sense of smell with NOSE > the sense of taste with tongue > the sense of hearing with ears > the sense of touch with the skin > the sense of sight with the eyes!!!
