Meaning:

The Lord of the universe made him the head of the

devotees. He told, "All Our (My) ate vessels

(remaining food - prasAdham), clothing and worn things

would be yours. We are (I am) also providing you with

the position of chaNDIsha." To his golden fibers of

hair, took and wound a konRai garland with the cut

moon.

Notes:

1. The unimaginable focus of vicAracarumar got him the

place very next to God. Not just that, he becomes the

authority of all the great prasAdham of Lord shiva,

one the devotees yearn for ! It is because of this

reason, when one is about to leave the abode of Lord

shiva, permission is taken from chaNDIshar to carry

home some prasAdham, if not wiping the hands in front

of him indicating no belongings of God is being taken

out.

2. chaNDIsha is in fact the name of God Itself. At

liberation God gives Its form to devotees, here even

It gives Its name to the liberated devotee. Note the

phrase, "garland with crescent" being put on the head

of caNDIshar (sArUpyam).

3. As the glorious words of cEkkizAr carefully

emphasize, chaNDIshar is the head of devotees. He

represents the devotees. That is the reason during the

processions in the temples the last mUrthi in the

panychamUrthi is chaNDIshar. He is the representation

there of all the devotees.

4. chanDIsha - fierce lord; kalam - vessel.
