Guest guest
www.srividya.org sells a 500+ page book (they have English and Tamil versions) which gives complete description of Srividyopasana. There Tamil version has subscripts 2, 3, 4 for kha, ga, ga etc. so that you will get the pronunciation right. These things you should learn only from a guru, but this book will serve either as reference or as a source for theoretical background. I personally have great respect for this organization (even though I am neither a member nor I know anyone personally there). With regard to any nyAsa one should understand the inner principle. The word nyAsa has few different meanings (see M-W dic), such as casting away, placing it, establishing etc. In this context they al point to the same thing. a) Cast away the aha.nkAra or ego, which gives a notion that I am doing this etc. One should understand that we can not move a blade of grass without HER force. b) Establish/understand the divinity by placing on different limbs of the body etc. This establishing is only for ego corrupted mind. Why I say that because, God is already everywhere. iishaavaasyam idam sarvam. But we have to tell this again and again to the mind so that it thins the ignorance out. Hence, by nyAsa we purify ourselves (basically the mind, because it is mind that makes something dirty. But for that ignorance there is nothing dirty in this world pervaded by God) by placing different divinities on different part of the body and give up the kartrva bhAva. Understanding the tatparyam of nyAsa-s is important because the deliverer is jnAna and not karma. Hence any karma should be done with an inner understanding of why we do it. Without this understanding, nyAsa will give only the partial benefit of protecting the sAdhaka. -- If you know Tamil, you should consider buying the book chidAnanda alai. This book, step by step, explains the inner meaning of all the steps in the Srividyopasana. It is a very nice book. (I should thank vishvarupa for giving this book as a gift to me) --- > arun_k_naik <arun_k_naik> <arun_k_naik> > <> > Friday, December 27, 2002 9:36 PM > SHODHA NYAS > > > >What is Shodha Nyas?
