mandara also called hibiscus/ shoe flower.

its a bright red flower. its in 2 forms single petal and multi petal. oil from

the dried flower of mandara is said to be good to hair.

i would like to remind that this full moon day dont miss the opportunity to pray

to lalita devi and perform srichakra puja.

Pardon me.

Its not oil from the dried flower.

The flower petals are fried in oil over a slow fire.

This oil promotes good growth of hair and keeps them healthy.

It also enhances the colour of the hair. Furthermore it is

considered to be a coolant.

The flower, Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis is the commonest

species seen now. It is the 'japaa kusumam' and in Tamil

it is 'semparaththam puu'. It is not 'semparuththi' as people

mistakenly call it. 'Semparuththi' is a different species.

It should be noted that the dhyaana sloka for Suurya,

mentions, 'japaa kusuma shankaasham kaashyapEyam....'.

In one of the dhyaana slokas of SrI Lalitha, it mentions,

'japaa kusumabhaasuraam japavidhau smarEdhambikaam'.
